Power BI Infographic Designer

Step-by-step instruction for using custom Infographics visual:

  1. Before start using this visuals, you should add it by import from the file or get it from the Power BI visuals store.
  2. The Infographic Designer initially displays a bar chart based on item quantity and item category.
  3. To configure the visual, click on the pencil icon, which represents the edit mode. You can zoom in or use focus mode for easier configuration.
  4. Start by choosing the shapes for the visual. Since it belongs to a garment shop, select a garment-related shape, such as a shirt.
  5. As soon as you choose an image, you will see a different image for each category. Walk through the properties to understand their functions.
  6. You can change the image by selecting a different one from the available options.
  7. The "fill percentage" property allows you to indicate the level of filling based on item quantity. It gives the impression of relative values.
  8. Choose the background and fill directions for the visual. For example, you can fill the visual from bottom to top or top to bottom.
  9. In the "multiple units" option, you can customize the number of rows and units per row. This allows for different arrangements of the shapes.
  10. If you want the shapes to be equal in size, use the "layout" option and select "bound to outer." This will show the bars equally and represent the overall value.
  11. Once you have configured the visual, you can revert back to the previous settings or adjust the row count and units per row to achieve the desired appearance.
  12. The visual is dynamically configurable for each category. To bind different images to each category, click on the link button and choose the data category.
  13. Select the desired images for each category, such as casual wear, semi-formal, accessories, and formal.
  14. Apply the changes, and you will see different images for each category.
  15. If you prefer, you can upload your own SVG documents by clicking on the upload button. Uploaded documents will appear in the shapes list for you to choose from.
  16. You can change the colors of the values for each category by selecting the value colors from the options.
  17. Add text to the visual by clicking on "insert a text." Format the text properties, such as the text content, size, font style, etc.
  18. Switch between text and shape properties as needed. You can delete or add text wherever necessary.
  19. Once you are done with the configuration, close the designer tool.
  20. The visual will now display the configured infographic that aligns with your business categories, such as casual wear, semi-formal, accessories, and formal.
  21. The visual provides information about item values based on the infographics.
  22. You can further customize properties such as shadow, tooltips, background, titles, etc.
  23. To change the visual type, click on the chart and adjust the properties. For example, you can switch between column and bar charts by changing the chart type.
  24. Explore and modify other properties such as x-axis, y-axis, font size, axis forms, etc. to suit your needs.
